Sawtelle is a neighborhood in Los Angeles, California that is known for its vibrant community, with strong roots in Japanese American history. However, more recently, it is becoming overpopulated with visitors who are drawn to the trendy restaurants and shops in Sawtelle Japantown, and the neighborhood is slowly losing its historical value.
My rebrand for Sawtelle brings back its history in Japanese American culture (with the sakura reference in the logo), while reinforcing their strong sense of community, growth, and unity (circles and repetition). It is an effort to preserve its roots while refreshing its visual identity as a contemporary community.
