The Moth: Opposing Forces

The podcast episode is about Martha, a dental student, who travels to a dangerous Colombian town to finish her residency.

The teaser concept is about the false perception of good vs. evil. The gift that the commander gave Martha to thank her for pulling out his son’s bad tooth shows that even though people might be initially portrayed as hateful or bad, they are also capable of showing gratitude and kindness. The merging of the birds is a metaphor for how we shouldn’t be labeled as one or the other; we are both. The birds symbolize people because they represent life. The sequence starts out with two different colored birds, red and blue, but they slowly merge to become one purple bird, which is emblematic of our capacity of both hating and loving.
